A taste of the

Brazilian carnival

SA

Strenght

After last summer's smash extravaganza, we return with the next installment: Saravá! Lush Carnival, a special event at the House of YES presented by Brasil Summerfest, the premier Brazilian contemporary music & arts festival in partnership with Group .BR, New York’s only Brazilian theater company.

This will be New York's ultimate 2019 carnival experience and in true Brazilian fashion: the party begins in the day and heads into the night. The event features special DJs, live samba and maracatu, carnival installations and performances, blocos and frozen caipirinhas by our friends at LEBLON Cachaça.

Adding to the artistic feeling from House of Yes, the party will have a theatrical approach to Brazilian culture that has been the company’s signature, featuring performances, big puppets, and art installations inspired by the richness of the Brazilian Carnival. Hint: don't miss our greetings and offerings at the party's first hour.

Performance and Art

Participate

Partygoers are invited to add to the mix by proposing to bring their own "bloco de carnaval", a group of people offering some form of entertainment to the crowd, being through music, dance or play - a big carnival tradition. Blocos will have access to discounted tickets.

We invite everyone to gather some friends and create their own "bloco de carnaval" and be an active participant of Saravá! Lush Carnival.

In some Afro-Brazilian religions, Saravá is used as a mantra to invoke the force that moves nature. It can also be used as a greeting that would translate into “save your force” but also means "welcome".

Saravá! Lush Carnival is presented in partnership with Brasil Summerfest, the largest contemporary Brazilian music and arts festival in the world.

Every summer, Brasil Summerfest presents Brazilian films, workshops, parties, talks, a street fair and many musical performances.
